School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Founded pursuant to the royal decree no. 400/72, the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering first opened its doors in the academic year 1972-73. Initially, it was called School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, concerned with two broad areas of engineering and research. In the academic year 1976-77, the School was divided into two:
the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering. Pursuant to presidential decree no. 266/93, the School of Electrical Engineering was renamed School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The graduate studies programme of the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering has been in operation since 1993-94, leading to MA and PhD degrees.

Moreover, the School participates in a significant number of European and Greek research and education programmes. The School also participates in interdepartmental and inter-European graduate programmes.
