The ‘Manolis Andronikos’ Interdisciplinary Centre for Archaeological Research (‘Manolis Andronikos’ ICAS) was established by decision of the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (dec. no. 2891/23-7-14). The Centre forms part of the School of History and Archaeology and operates under the supervision of the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The purpose of the ‘Manolis Andronikos’ ICAS is:

• To support the University excavation, to maintain and promote the Aristotle University’s longstanding presence at Vergina, to advance the scientific and interdisciplinary work carried out by the School of Archaeology and to utilise the University excavation’s premises at the archaeological site of Vergina.
• To digitise and utilise the archival material of the University excavation, to attend to the scientific publication of the excavation’s results and to inform the general public about the very important research being carried out by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at Vergina.

The objectives of the ‘Manolis Andronikos’ ICAS are:

• To ensure the smooth continuation of the University excavation by the School of Archaeology of the Aristotle University, to attend to the scientific publication of the excavation’s results, to ensure that there is an interdisciplinary approach to, and interpretation of, its findings, and to support the teaching and research work undertaken by the University excavation team.
• To ensure that the findings of the University excavation are disseminated on the Internet, to support and secure financial backing for the excavation activities and research work of the University excavation by seeking out programmes, accepting sponsorships and legacies and engaging in the profitable publication of material in printed and electronic form.
