This school is organized on behalf of the German-Greek partnership in aging (GGP-AGE) funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and is a succession of a series of autumn schools that took place in Humboldt University, Berlin, during the past four years. This year’s Summer School focuses on the population of older adults from a biomechanical, motor control and neurophysiological perspective. Neural and muscular adaptations attributed to physical activity, or to age-related processes, diseases or therapies constitute our major interests.

The main research objectives are:
– to acquire knowledge about the fundamental principles of motor control in ageing,
– to investigate the degenerative effects of age on the musculoskeletal properties and motor control strategies across lifespan,
– to understand how the sensorimotor system controls biomechanical features and leads to adaptation on a structural level in tissues such bone and muscle.

The International Summer School on Movement Science is based on an interdisciplinary education programme, which provides and promotes scientific exchange and interaction, supporting PhD students and young researchers to become highly skilled scientists in the fields of movement science and ageing

Participation to the Summer School is free of charge and is of particular  interest to those Master’s, PhD, and Postdoctoral students and early-stage researchers who are considering pursuing their research in the field of movement science and ageing.
